I came into the apartment after walking home in the rain. My husband was in London. Trigger, my dog, was with my nephew. Rachel, my daughter, was out and about.
The apartment was quiet. Very quiet and clean. I haven’t been in the apartment too often experiencing this type of quiet. It rained most of the day. Rainy days give us the gift of slowing down and time to reflect.
I sat down in my grandmother’s blue velvet chair and started thinking about The Barrow Group.
Have I done enough to serve the artists in our community?
Are people being inspired enough?”
Have I helped nurture artists’ creative spirits?”
How can I get our work out to more people in the world?”
My reflections led me to get down on myself.
Hmm….
I got up, made myself a cup of tea, and took a hot salt bath.
Finding ways to help ourselves when our creative spirit needs attention can change our thinking. A little nurturing went a long way.
In general, I find that doing anything creative helps channel my energy – moving my body, singing, drawing a picture, writing something, calling a friend, memorizing a monologue, working on an accent, making some cookies, writing a letter to someone I love expressing gratitude, supporting other peoples’ work.
My thought for the day is…
Keep your creative spirit happy on the rainy days. Well…even on the sunny days.
